The original cramped, dark, fragmented space was opened up by enlarging one window and adding another that overlooks a beautiful courtyard. A new skylight allows even more precious daylight into this home. The spacious kitchen now accommodates an unusual yet highly functional island, the client's choice of appliances, and light maple cabinetry.

Special design features: Contrasting cherry accents enhance existing millwork color; false post balances true structural post; tile backsplash with granite, copper and stainless steel accents; glass cabinet doors.

Products used: Wood-Mode "Newport" cabinetry natural maple cabinetry; Sub-Zero refrigerator; Dynamic Cooking Systems range; Bosch dishwasher; Best hood; Elkay stainless steel sinks; Grohe chrome faucets; ISE disposal; Misty Green ceramic tile countertops; Green granite tile on island with lavendar ceramic edge; custom oak strip flooring.
